In the Spring 2009 KKFI Fund Drive, we decided it would be fun to buy a guest DJ
slot. We scheduled our day well in advance, and despite that, there was a scramble
at the end to get the four of us who participated to merge and blend the songs we'd
chosen into a cohesive program.
Bill and Lynn did a retrospective of music they'd loved; Martha featured
music of people she's known and played with; and K.C. seemed to pick songs that
evoked the places she's lived. Kerry chose to sit this gig out, but we tipped our
hats to him as a songwriter by playing his track "Fortune's Fool" from our 5-song CD.
Diana Suckiel agreed to be our engineer, and showed remarkable calm in the face
of the chaos of all the CDs we were slinging in her direction. Lynn's always
loved the Foolkiller Folk show, but is even more impressed to see what goes into
creating two-hour listening experience. Our deepest thanks to Diana for engineering
and doing the paperwork, to Kathy Peters for cluing us into the regulations that
affect our song selections, to all the Foolkiller Folk hosts for making space for us,
and to KKFI for being our ccommunity radio station.
